Attended my first Alumni Weekend at UCSB this weekend (woo! getting old!) and got the opportunity to reunite with so many dear friends. For a short while, we were back in the Narnia that is Isla Vista where the responsibilities were minimal and the fun times were anything but that. It felt odd and amazing all at once; our happy place filled with unreal memories but also no longer ours. As always, however, there was dancing, drinking and losing sleep – guess some things really never change! Forever grateful for our Gaucho name that bonds us for life.

I wouldn’t dare see my best friends and let them go without capturing some shots of their natural beauty first ❤ Many more shots on my Instagram! @dianaelenaphotos

Friday Feature: MUA Alice.

This week’s feature is a familiar face on the Diana Elena Photos radar! Just wanted to spotlight Alice as the fantastic makeup artist that she is. A lot goes into making beautiful pictures a reality and a good makeup artist is one of those key elements. Years of practice have made her very talented at her craft and I always know who to call when I need to feel like Beyonce (which is a daily mood honestly). From bridal to photo shoots to daily glam, she’s done it all!

Her work can be found on her Instagram and her blog, Glitter and Whatever! Anyone that has met her will vouch that she’s bound to leave an impression.

Making lemonade.

Processed with VSCO with q5 presetLearned an important lesson in being flexible and working with what you’ve got during this particular shoot. We had originally set out to a location outside of Sacramento but got stuck in major traffic. So being the cool, calm and collected (and not at all road-ragey) person that I am, I took the nearest exit and said FORGET IT…or something along those line. Ended up driving around and improvising the shoot, looking desperately for good lighting and a worthy backdrop. But luck was on our side after all and again the spring blooms came to the rescue. Shout out to my girl Bogdana for just going with the flow and being stunning no matter what the setting.

Beating the Monday blues.

Lately I’ve been living for the weekend since that is when I have time to explore and relax. Today I told myself that I would learn to appreciate everyday and make the weekdays a little more exciting. Whether it’s dinner with a friend or a game night, give yourself a few treats along the way to make working full time a bit more bearable. I hope your Monday isn’t too blue!

So fresh and so clean.

Captured this simple shot near the AirBnb we stayed in, in the Nob Hill area of San Francisco. It was on the cutest street with a Trader Joes on the corner, talk about the dream home for D. The iconic SF architecture provided such a great backdrop for these pictures, I just couldn’t resist taking the ol’ Canon out. The clean colors and simplicity of it bring me so much joy.
