Attended my first Alumni Weekend at UCSB this weekend (woo! getting old!) and got the opportunity to reunite with so many dear friends. For a short while, we were back in the Narnia that is Isla Vista where the responsibilities were minimal and the fun times were anything but that. It felt odd and amazing all at once; our happy place filled with unreal memories but also no longer ours. As always, however, there was dancing, drinking and losing sleep – guess some things really never change! Forever grateful for our Gaucho name that bonds us for life.
I wouldn’t dare see my best friends and let them go without capturing some shots of their natural beauty first ❤ Many more shots on my Instagram! @dianaelenaphotos
This week’s feature is a familiar face on the Diana Elena Photos radar! Just wanted to spotlight Alice as the fantastic makeup artist that she is. A lot goes into making beautiful pictures a reality and a good makeup artist is one of those key elements. Years of practice have made her very talented at her craft and I always know who to call when I need to feel like Beyonce (which is a daily mood honestly). From bridal to photo shoots to daily glam, she’s done it all!
Her work can be found on her Instagram and her blog, Glitter and Whatever! Anyone that has met her will vouch that she’s bound to leave an impression.
Learned an important lesson in being flexible and working with what you’ve got during this particular shoot. We had originally set out to a location outside of Sacramento but got stuck in major traffic. So being the cool, calm and collected (and not at all road-ragey) person that I am, I took the nearest exit and said FORGET IT…or something along those line. Ended up driving around and improvising the shoot, looking desperately for good lighting and a worthy backdrop. But luck was on our side after all and again the spring blooms came to the rescue. Shout out to my girl Bogdana for just going with the flow and being stunning no matter what the setting.
Lately I’ve been living for the weekend since that is when I have time to explore and relax. Today I told myself that I would learn to appreciate everyday and make the weekdays a little more exciting. Whether it’s dinner with a friend or a game night, give yourself a few treats along the way to make working full time a bit more bearable. I hope your Monday isn’t too blue!
Just wanted to share another shot from our forest adventure. Have a great day!
It has been very difficult to catch a few moments of clear weather to shoot but luckily I caught a break! The American river may be flooded but the trails are beautiful and bursting at the seams with green lush grass. Shoutout to my lovely Bogdana for braving the mud and mosquitos for me, she looked ethereal in the forest setting. 🌿
Captured this simple shot near the AirBnb we stayed in, in the Nob Hill area of San Francisco. It was on the cutest street with a Trader Joes on the corner, talk about the dream home for D. The iconic SF architecture provided such a great backdrop for these pictures, I just couldn’t resist taking the ol’ Canon out. The clean colors and simplicity of it bring me so much joy.
I had always heard about Abbot Kinney in La but had never gone until recently and let me tell ya, it was just as hip as they say. All kinds of Vegan restaurants and expensive boutiques, everything you’d expect in LA. But I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day here and captured some great sights like this mobile flower shop! Had brunch at The Butcher’s Daughter and it was AMAZING. Would recommend 10/10 especially for those of you that are lactose intolerant because they offer all dairy free 🙂
Not too long ago I booked my first wedding shoot and decided to expand my porfolio a bit in preparation for this. So this week I dabbled a bit with bridal photography thanks to my friend Dorena who so graciously helped me! She had kept her wedding dress and it finally got to leave the closet again. I was so excited to have a real dress and a real bride because it made the whole aesthetic that much more stunning. We used a foresty setting here in the ‘burbs of Fair Oaks and the weather was perfectly overcast, which we all know what that means: lighting on point. The end result was perfect!
Serendipity is defined as the act of finding something great without looking for it. I can say that most of the great things I have in my life have found their way to me by some powerful force of the universe and it always amazes me the way things work out. I hope your year is filled with serendipity ❤️
Don’t these two just make you want to be in love?! Chemistry is hard to achieve both in real life and in front of the camera but Courtney and Dean killed it.
