A message to my true love: travel. This is perhaps one of my favorite pictures ever (do I say that often? Oops.) I have come to terms with my gypsy soul and its unquenchable thirst for exploring. I could have a lot more money in my savings account but I sure as hell wouldn’t be as happy. The world feels like a source of endless possibilities waiting to be explored. So this Valentines Day I am happy to be taking yet another trip and sharing the holiday with one of the cities I love most! Keep posted for which one it is, hehe.
Recently went to visit my cousins in Chicago after not having seen them for 3 years! And I seemed to have brought the California sunshine with me because we got perfect weather the whole weekend I was there. Sunny and warm, not exactly normal fall weather for Chi-town. My first time visiting when I was 16 definitely did not do the city justice. Perhaps because I was not able to free roam and drink cocktails at happy hour? Perhaps. I love this shot I captured of the Bean, which is still one of my favorite tourist spots I’ve ever been to. Go to Russia Tea Room if you have the time! I am still dreaming of that food. And Dylan’s Candy Bar if you have a hankering for a cotton candy martini!
I would say at least 50% of my work is the result of my random meandering around the towns I visit. There’s something magical about stumbling across a beautiful sight and capturing it. Here, I found this beautiful Victorian home while taking a walk downtown and the result was great. (Hope the home owners don’t mind me loitering in their front yard hehe.) I like to think photography is a bit of metaphor for life, you never know what beautiful things life will bring to you.
My out of town friends know better than anyone that I am one proud Sacramento resident. I will tell anyone who will listen about the great restaurants and bars or its proximity to great daycation destinations like Tahoe and San Francisco. I won’t lie, it has not always been like this but with time and growing I have come to treasure this place as my second home. You will often see pictures of sights around town and I hope that if you have not already, you will consider visiting. #VisitSacramento
I believe every picture tells a story. In my work, I strive to capture candid real-life moments. Sneak peeks into the best times I experience. I want to hold these memories dearly and being able to look back brings me a great sense of comfort. For example, this was a perfect day reuniting with my college friends after months of being apart. We drank mimosas, danced in the rain and got scouted for a TV show. It is these magical days I want to showcase here.
